Traineeships
There is no formal definition for a Traineeship period in Croatia. The Acts which define categories of traineeships are Employment Promotion Act (Official Gazette 57/12, 120/12) and Labour Act (Official Gazette 93/14).
The general framework for vocational education is the Law on Vocational Education (OG30/09, 24/10, 22/13, 25/18), and the main mechanism for vocational training is vocational education for bound craft programmes, which consists of an expert-theoretical part and practical teaching and exercises.
Traineeship in Croatia is one of the most popular Active Labour Market Policy Measures, aiming to boost the employability of young unemployed persons.
Occupational training without commencing employment is designed in order for a person who has no work-experience related to his/her professions to enter the labour market and start working in his/her occupation regardless of the fact if the state exam or work experience has been stipulated under the act or some other legal provision as a condition for performing occupation-specific workplace tasks. Occupational training is conducted at the employer`s workplace. The employer provides a mentor for the participant, and receives reimbursement of contributions for pension and health insurance they are obliged to pay each month, while the participant receives financial aid from the PES and travel expense.
