University

Higher education in Cyprus is provided at university and non-university level, in public and private institutions of higher education.

With its 3 public and 7 private universities, and more than 40 public and private higher education institutions enjoying international academic and scientific recognition, the island attracts thousands of international students every year.

High school grades are not considered important for those students enrolling in university programs. Though a diploma is a requirement, students will take admission based testing to determine if the student can study at the school and, if so, what level of courses he or she needs to take. All candidates, including international students, will need to take this type of testing before entering into university.
