Public healthcare in Cyprus is either inexpensive or free, and even private healthcare costs can be quite affordable.
Both state-funded and private hospitals can be found in all of Cyprus's major cities.
The Ministry of Health is responsible mainly for the organisation of the healthcare system in Cyprus and the provision of state-fi nanced healthcare services.

Medical care for illness or accident is free to citizens of the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein as long as they have a European Health Card (EHIC).
