Denmark is considered one of the most expensive countries in the world for living costs. Copenhagen, Denmark's capital, is one of the most expensive cities in the world.
Denmark is the EU country with the highest consumer prices: the price level is 39% higher than the EU-27 average. Only the EFTA countries Iceland, Switzerland and Norway have even higher prices. 

Housing costs account for a large part of a family's expenses. Particularly in the most important cities, the price of housing can be very high. At the same time, salaries are also relatively high and the Danish welfare system ensures that many services are free, for example medical care and education.

Denmark has not introduced the euro. The currency in Denmark is called Danish krone (DKK) and its symbol is “kr”.
