Exploring the country

Composed of 26 regions, France is a vast country of varied cultures waiting to be discovered. From the north to the south, the east to the west, the differences are so great that France is impossible to define. Within the space of just a few miles, it isn't only the landscape that changes. Passing from one region to another means discovering new tastes, smells, sights and sounds.

France is home to 49 of the more than 1,000 World Heritage Sites worldwide, as inscribed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). France’s captivating UNESCO sites include magnanimous cathedrals, extensive national parks, and geological wonders. These sites range from the iconic Palace and Park of Versailles and the spectacular medieval town of Provins to the far-flung Lagoons of New Caledonia and iconic Pyrénées.
