Traineeships

Traineeships may be formalised (based on specific programmes) or not (traineeship content may be established ad hoc, individually) and may be offered by a variety of organisations, such as universities, research centres, businesses, institutions (ministries), and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Traineeships may be funded by the state (by allocating grants or scholarships), and by organisations where the traineeship takes place (e.g. European Commission).

During the traineeship, the trainee has to work at least 20 hours but not more than 40 hours a week, and the contract may last up to 6 months.
A monthly grant is paid during the traineeship taking into account the training hours.

The traineeship duration, objective and other conditions is set out in a trilateral traineeship agreement concluded by and between the Employment Service, business, institution, organisation or other organisational structure organising the traineeship.
