According to more recent international comparisons, Lithuania’s cost of living is relatively low: for example, its cost-of-living index (PPP) was about 81.1 (world average = 100) according to the World Bank, and in 2025 Expatistan estimates a monthly cost of living of ~€1,457 for a single person. The cost of groceries, accommodation, transportation and health care are lower than in most other countries in the EU.

Although rental prices are growing very quickly in Lithuania, especially in its major cities, it’s still possible to find a decent place to live at an affordable price for most people.
As for public transportation, it is generally good and bus tickets aren’t expensive. Also, there is a cheap transportation fee if you are student.

Lithuania joined the euro area on 1 January 2015, and the euro replaced the Lithuanians litas.
