University
Post-Secondary Education and Tertiary Education in Malta is offered by two main sectors: State Education, Non-State Education. The Non-State Sector divides itself into two categories, those educational services offered by Church Educational Institutions and Independent institutions.
The University of Malta, the Malta College of Arts Science and Technology (MCAST) and the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) are the publicly-funded educational institutions providing higher education courses. For EU students and citizens of Malta, public university education is free. Non-EU students will be required to pay tuition fees. Being a part of the British Empire for a hundred and fifty years in the past, the country recognizes English as one of its two official languages.
