World Health Organization’s global healthcare ranking marked Malta 5th in the world at the turn of the 21st century. The Maltese health care system is very well-respected, and residents are able to choose between the private and public systems.
All EU nationals resident in Malta are eligible to receive free medical treatment at government funded hospitals and clinics.
In Malta anyone who makes National Insurance contributions is eligible to free health care in public clinics and hospitals.
The Health Centres are the hub of the primary health care services provided by the Government.
