Thanks to its central position, Poland can be reached easily!

Concerning air: flying to Poland is easy! There are more than 30 different airlines flying to Poland - from Emirates to Ryanair, so prices vary considerably. 
Here is the list of the main airport websites where you can get more information on transport, departures/arrival times and shops/restaurants.

The condition of Polish roads could be described as relatively good. In Poland there is a toll on motorways (A1, A2, A4 and A8). These tolls are collected using two systems:

  • open system: The tolls are collected at toll booths situated on motorways. The toll depends on the type of vehicle.

  • closed system (viaTOLL system): The tolls are collected at toll booths situated on access roads, on junction roads and additionally on the final sections of motorways. The toll depends on the type of vehicle and the distance covered.

Concerning railways, we can say that there are different kind of trains

  • Express trains (Intercity) that run between the larger cities without stopping at smaller stations. Many of them are a higher standard and has restaurant carts. 

  • Fast trains that are a bit slower and of a bit less standard. Many have old-style compartments for up to eight people.

  • Regional trains carry passengers to smaller towns and have more stops, but give you chance to visit smaller Polish towns and villages. These trains usually run over short routes. The price of a ticket will depend on the type of train, distance and the class. Tickets are available at the ticket windows at railway stations, or on the intercity.pl website koleo.pl/en/.

Buses. Poland is well connected also by international coach lines, especially big cities such as Warsaw, Krakow, Poznan and Gdansk.  Bus fares are usually lower than airfares.

There are local bus services in every town in Poland and connections will take you right across the country. Coach travel in Poland is operated by national and regional carriers.

It is also worth to mention that when using local buses (public transport) you can usually  pay by contactless card but it is also worth to have some petty cash with you.
