Health system
In Slovakia, the healthcare system is administrated by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic and healthcare services are provided both by public and private healthcare facilities.
EU citizens with a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) will be able to access to medically necessary, state-provided healthcare during the temporary stay in Slovakia under the same conditions and at the same cost as people insured in that country. However, keep in mind that the EHIC is not an alternative to travel insurance and it does not guarantee free services.
